Ridge View High School
Club/ Organization Description

Blazer Ambassadors
Initiated by the Guidance Department in 2001, the Blazer Ambassadors Program’s mission is to welcome new students and help them make successful transitions to Ridge View High School.  Blazer Ambassadors are Ridge View students who are responsible for greeting new students and their families, answering questions, listening to new students’ concerns, conducting campus tours, serving as lunch buddies, inviting new students to school and community events, introducing new students to key persons, and hosting receptions for new students. 

Color My World Club
The mission of the Color My world club is to focus on the health and happiness of others. Through projects such as breast cancer awareness and butterflies to honor the memories of Holocaust victims, members of Color My World will strive to honor others through thoughtful gestures.

Competitive Gaming Club
The mission of the Competitive Gaming Club is to meet new people while learning, playing, and programming computer games.

DECA
DECA, An Association of Marketing Students, is an organization for students who have an interest in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. Students compete in these areas at the region, state and national levels.  Ridge View DECA was established in 1997.

Drama Club
Any student wishing to be a part of a school wide production, performance opportunity or outreach project would thrive in this positive creative environment.  Students share creative interests through producing and performing in school and community endeavors that build confidence, self esteem, leadership, and teambuilding characteristics. This activity and performance based club is perfect for all grade level students. 

FCA
Vision: To see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches.
Mission: To present to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.
***You don't have to be an athlete to join the club. FCA is a non-denominational organization.

French Club
French Club is open to all students who are interested in French culture with out regard to their level of French or GPA.  Students in this club attend French movies and plays, make French food, listen to French music and celebrate French holidays, etc.  Sometimes, they discuss current events of interest to them such as the recent Arab immigrant riots near Paris.

German Club
German Club is open to all students who are interested in German culture without regard to their level of German or GPA.  Students in this club attend German movies and plays, make German food, listen to German music and celebrate German holidays, etc.  They also discuss current events of interest to them.

Gospel Choir
The gospel choir is a student led musical club where students are welcome to express their faith through song. This non-denominational, cross-cultural choir has served the school and the community at various functions.

HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America)
The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science technology education students, therefore, helping students to meet the needs of the health care community.

Interact Club
Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people ages 14-18. The program gives young people an opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting new friends. Through service activities, Interactors learn the importance of developing leadership skills and personal integrity, demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others and advancing international understanding and goodwill.

Key Club
Key Club is an international student-led organization which provides its members with opportunities to provide service to others, build character and develop leadership. Its vision is to develop competent, capable, and caring leaders through the vehicle of service. The core values of Key Club International are leadership, character building, caring, and inclusiveness.

Knitting Club
The Knitting Club is for all knitters, whether beginners or advanced.  We will work on individual projects that the students pick out, and help each other with difficult stitches and special knitting knowledge.

Latin Dance Club
The Latin Dance Club is a social club where students come to learn about the dances from the many different regions in the Hispanic countries. They learn the steps and clothing associated with each region. All students are welcome to be part of the Latin Dance Club as long as they attend all the practices.

Literary Society
The literary society is a safe, non-judgmental place for students to share their work and receive honest & appropriate constructive criticism.  It is a community of people that love to read and write fiction, poetry, and dramatic pieces in their spare time.

Men’s Chorus
Men's Chorus is an ensemble for men only, performing at concerts and for the community. The repertoire will vary widely from popular styles to classical music styles.

National Arts Honor Society
National Arts Honor Soceity was established for the purpose of inspiring and recognizing those students who have shown an outstanding ability in art. The NAHS also strives to aid members in working toward the attainment of their highest potential in art areas, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community.

National French Honor Society
Société Honoraire de Français (National French Honor Society) is established to recognize outstanding performance and commitment to French language and culture.  Students must have an Average in French and a B average in their other courses in the semester in which they are inducted.  Once admitted, students remain members for their high school years (unless they do something very bad) and are eligible for scholarships and travel awards sponsored by the National Association of Teachers of French.

National Honor Society
The National Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. Based on invitation and application, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

National Honor Society for Dance Arts
The mission of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) is to promote and honor outstanding dance achievement.  Further, NHSDA hopes to encourage well-rounded dance artists to become leaders in their communities after high school graduation.

National Spanish Honor Society
The Honor Society is by invitation from the Spanish teachers. Students are invited to apply on the second semester of Spanish III Honors if they meet the criteria. Once a student is accepted in the Society, they must serve a total of 10 service hours by tutoring Spanish I & II students as well as participating in raising money to help the poor people from Central and South America.

National Technical Honor Society
National Technical Honor Society is open to career and technology students who have taken at least two CTE courses and have earned at least a B in those courses.  The purpose of the organization is to recognize outstanding students in career and technical education, to provide scholarship opportunities for members, and to enhance career opportunities for the NTHS membership.

Photography Club
Photography club is for students who have already taken the photography class.  Through the club students will be given extra access to facilities and work on alternative photography processes.

PTL
PTL is a Christian club that offers fun and exciting bible studies, devotions and relaxation in the middle of the school day.  Students can watch Christian videos, listen to Christian music and fellowship during their lunch hour.  Students serve the students and staff at RVHS, which include feeding the hungry (students w/o a daily lunch), throughout the school year.

SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions)
SADD is a peer leadership organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions, particularly underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving, teen violence and teen depression and suicide. SADD’s mission is to provide students with the best prevention and intervention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving and other destructive decisions.

School for the Arts
School for the Arts students will be able to network with each other, attend presentations on current trends/artists in all arts areas, give grade updates to the advisor and receive any information that needs to be disseminated.

Science Club
The Science Club is to promote science and the fun of science for all students.  At the regular meetings various topics of interest concerning biology, chemistry and physics are investigated, potential scientific professions are examined; students perform experiments and invite guest lecturers for seminars.  In addition students participate in state wide science meetings and competitions that promote scientific studies. 

Science National Honor Society
The Science National Honor Society is a student-centered organization with the following objectives:

    • Encourage and recognize scientific and intellectual thought
    • Advance the students’ knowledge of classical and modern science
    • Communicate with the scientific community
    • Aid the civic community with its comprehension of science
    • Encourage students to participate in community service and in turn, encourage a dedication to the pursuit of scientific knowledge that benefits all humankind
    • Honor students that excel in the science

Show Choir
Show Choir is an organization that involves both music and dance. We will perform popular styles of music at concerts and for the community.

Spanish Club
Spanish Club is a social club for students interested in participating in Spanish language and culture. The students will do something social every month with a chance to incorporate small Spanish phrases and exposure to the culture. Activities may include eating at Mexican restaurants, bowling, viewing movies, and going to area soccer games.
 
Step Team
The Step Team combines dance moves with synchronized body dynamics.   Begun during the late 1930's, the heritage of "stepping" is a multi-cultural experience suitable for both males and females who are creative and want to provide the body with rigorous exercise.  

Student 2 Student
Student 2 Student (S2S), sponsored by the Military Child Education Coalition, was developed through the support of the Army Community and Family Support Center.  It is a student-led, school-managed program designed to meet the needs of the transitioning student.  The S2S team at Ridge View High School consists of volunteer students, supervised by a guidance counselor.  The student facilitators train inbound and outbound transitioning students on three subject areas: academics, relationships, and find the way. 

Student Council
Student Council seeks to provide a valuable leadership partnership between students and their school. It creates the opportunity for students to become effective leaders, thus encouraging and influencing a positive school climate.

Tailgating Club
The purpose of the Tailgating Club is to promote school spirit both on campus and at sporting events.  Students come together to show off their Blazer Pride and enjoy food, fun and friendship.

Technology Student Association (TSA)
The mission of the Technology Student Association is to prepare its membership for the challenges of a dynamic world by promoting technological literacy, leadership, and problem solving skills, resulting in personal growth and opportunities.

Tri-M Music Honors Society
Tri-M Music Honors society is a nationally recognized organization available to all students involved with musical theater, band, orchestra and choir. The purpose of the society is to inspire music participation, create enthusiasm for scholarship, encourage community service and promote leadership in music students. Students are expected to play a key role as advocates for music in our schools.

Venturing Club
Venturing, in connection with the Boy Scouts of America, is an intense program for young adults that helps them develop leadership abilities, self-confidence, advanced skills in many areas, and more. If your older teen is not being challenged by his or her current activities and wants something that will offer more varied and advanced activities, Venturing may be just the right group.

Young Democrats of America
The Young Democrats of America (YDA) is the largest youth-led partisan political organization that builds strong chapters and a solid youth voting bloc for Democrats nationwide. As the official youth arm of the Democratic Party, YDA mobilizes young people under the age of 36 to participate in the electoral process, influence the ideals of the Democratic Party and develops the skills of the youth generation to serve as leaders at the local and national level.

Youth Action Council
The Richland Two Youth Action Council is comprised of student leaders from across the school district. Our mission is to promote youth-directed civic engagement through a service-learning framework. Some of our responsibilities include awarding service learning mini-grants to teachers, engaging in school and community service and sharing our work at local, state, and national levels.
