About the Blazer Ambassadors Program…

    • What is the Ridge View Blazer Ambassadors Program?

Initiated by the Guidance Department during the 2001-2002 academic year, the Ridge View Blazer Ambassadors Program’s mission is to welcome new students   and help them make successful transitions to Ridge View High School.

    • Why is the Blazer Ambassadors Program necessary?

Each year, a significant number of students transfer to Ridge View High School.  These students are generally presented with academic, personal and social challenges, such as discovering new promotion and graduation requirements and establishing rapport with new peers and teachers.  To alleviate these frustrations, the Blazer Ambassador Program serves as a social support system.

    • How does the Blazer Ambassadors Program work?

When a new student arrives, his counselor assigns him to a trained student ambassador, who will be responsible for monitoring the new student’s progress throughout the academic year. Additionally, the student ambassador introduces the new student to the physical facilities; helping them to locate classrooms and common areas, such as the main office, cafeteria, gym, and auditorium. Finally, the student ambassador arranges to accompany the new student to lunch and community events until the new student has successfully adjusted to Ridge View High School.

    • What are the duties of the Ridge View Blazer Ambassador?

Blazer Ambassadors will be required to do the following:  greet new students and their families, answer questions, listen to new student concerns, conduct campus tours, serve as lunch buddies, invite new student to school and community events, introduce new students to key person, host receptions, volunteer to assist during school-wide projects, and attend monthly meetings.

    • How does a student become a Blazer Ambassador?

The selection process will consist of an application and interview.  Students interested in serving as Blazer Ambassadors must complete and submit the application no later than the posted deadline.  Interviews will be granted based on a review of grades, attendance, discipline records, and recommendations. Once selected, students will participate in a training workshop.

    • How does a student remain a Blazer Ambassador?

Blazer Ambassadors are selected to serve for an academic year and must reapply each year of interest.  Grades, attendance, and discipline are monitored   throughout the academic year.  Those not maintaining satisfactory progress may be dismissed from the program before completion of the service year.  Students serving as Blazer Ambassadors must participate in the training workshop and attend monthly meetings.
