In order to meet the needs of the students in our community, Ridge View High School has reorganized its curriculum around ten major clusters of study. Clusters of study are pathways that allow students to transition more smoothly from high school to post-secondary education or the workplace. Clusters provide students with an opportunity to tailor instruction and experiences around areas of interest to them.
Within a given cluster there are a number of majors. Beginning in the Spring of 2006, students were required to create an Individual Graduation Plan and select and complete a major. To complete a major students must earn four credits from the list of courses within that major. Additional course offerings within existing majors or entire majors altogether may be added in future years. Students are not locked into a major – should they wish to they may change. Additional information about Career Clusters can be obtained from Guidance or online at http://www.myscschools.com/offices/cate/standards.
