Program of Studies

Ridge View High School, opened in the fall of 1995, offers all the advantages of a Richland District Two quality education. The school is proud to offer programs meeting the needs of all its students from the highest academically talented to the mentally handicapped. Ridge View recommends that all students go beyond the state’s minimum requirements for a high school diploma. To this end, the school offers a challenging curriculum as well as a number of highly regarded schools-within-the-school and a Freshman Academy.  Ridge View’s tremendous growth over the years necessitated the introduction of smaller learning communities.  The success of those programs has ensured that they have remained an integral part of the school, even after the significant downsizing with the opening of Blythewood High School.  In 1998, The Honors School (now Ridge View Scholars Academy) and AVID were introduced.  The success of those programs paved the way for the introduction of The School for the Arts two years later.  In the fall of 2002, Ridge View began its Freshman Academy (now Blazer Academy) to help ensure students’ transition from middle to high school was successful. Our magnet program, The Institute for Health Sciences, opened in the fall of 2008.
