Dear Citizens:
Our schools are one
of the most important sanctuaries we have for our children. It is
our job to insure they have a stimulating and safe learning environment,
free from the violence and distractions so common to our society.
I strongly believe the Richland County Sheriff's Department’s
School Resource Officer Program will provide our children with the
"peace of mind" they need to develop into tomorrow’s
leaders. Our School Resource Officers are not security guards. Though
they are deputies, their primary function will be to serve as teachers
and counselors to the students. This cooperative effort will tremendously
benefit the children, the schools, the community and our Department.
I hope you share our enthusiasm for the School Resource Officer
Program. Our SRO's have been extremely effective and successful
and the program can only serve to enhance your child’s educational
experiences.
