What is their role? Once in their assigned school, the SRO's function is to serve as a positive role model for the students. This is accomplished through daily interaction with the students. The SRO will teach courses on topics such as Law Related Education, D.A.R.E., conflict resolution and peer pressure. The SRO's biggest asset is their ability to listen to students. They can provide students with one-on-one counseling, offer advise when asked, and most importantly, be a friend to that student. The SRO's will also assist their school with academic and athletic events, and will be an active member of the schools' PTA. |
